SOUND DESIGN COURSE IN RIGA
Who is this sound design course for?
This sound design course in Riga is designed for adults and beginners interested in sound design, audio editing, animation voice-over or audiovisual content creation. No previous sound design, audio editing or voice-over experience is required basic computer skills are enough.

COURSE PROGRAMME
What's inside the course?
1. Introduction to vinyl culture and DJ equipment anatomy — 2 h
Vinyl history; turntable components; cartridges and needles; mixer functions; phono/line signal basics.
2. Music theory for DJs and vinyl record structure — 2 h
BPM, 4/4 time, bars and phrases; visual navigation on vinyl; cueing and first-beat preparation.
3. Set architecture, selection and audio hygiene — 2 h
Intro, build-up and outro; genre and tonal compatibility; record care; audience and environment awareness.
4. Studio workshop: beatmatching and mixing techniques — 5 h
Manual tempo synchronization by ear; pitch fader use; blending; EQ control and low-frequency management.
5. Club practice: stage setup and vinyl DJ set performance — 8 h
Club sound system and monitor workflow; cable routing; soundcheck; individual 40-minute set performance.
6. Final exam and performance analysis — 1 h
Listening back to the recorded club set; individual technical and artistic feedback; development recommendations.
WHAT YOU LEAVE WITH
A real club set — and a pathway to the stage.
The course ends with a practical exam: an independent vinyl set performance prepared in a real club acoustic environment, assessed for equipment handling, beatmatching stability, EQ control and musical structure.
Best-performing students may be invited to perform at Teritorija Club in a real public setting — with a live audience, professional sound system and club equipment.

Vinyl DJ course — common questions
Do I need my own vinyl records or equipment?
No. Professional turntables, mixers and a practice record collection are provided — both in the studio and at the club practice.
I'm a digital DJ — is this course useful for me?
Yes. Learning to beatmatch by ear on vinyl is the fastest way to deepen your technique — many digital DJs take this course exactly for that.
Do I need any music education to join?
No. A good sense of rhythm and an interest in analogue audio are enough — the course covers the music theory a DJ needs.
Where does the club practice take place?
The final sessions and the exam performance take place in a real club environment in Riga, on a professional sound system.
Can I perform publicly after the course?
The course includes a club-environment practice for all participants. In addition, selected students who show strong progress, technical control and artistic readiness may be invited to perform at Teritorija Club in a real public setting with a live audience and professional equipment.
